Why Live Seasonally?

By tuning into the natural rhythms of the seasons, we align our self-care and personal growth with the world around us.

Seasonal living helps us make the most of the time we have here in a way that is present, anchored and grounded.

Each season mirrors different facets of our lives and personalities, offering unique opportunities for self-discovery, renewal and growth

The approach I teach is deeply rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine's Five Element Theory, which links natural elements found in nature: wood, fire, earth, metal, and water to a corresponding season.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine ther is the addition of a 5th season; Late Summer represented by the Earth Element.

Each season/element mirrors different facets of our health, lives and personalities, offering unique opportunities for self-discovery, renewal, and growth:

Embracing Life’s Cycles: Midlife as the Autumn of Our Lives

Just as the seasons shape our environment, they also mirror the cycles of our lives.

We continuously move through rhythms that echo the season, as seen in our breath, daily routines, the moon’s phases, and even the menstrual cycle.

Midlife is akin to Autumn—a season of alchemy and transformation.  In nature, autumn is when trees shed their leaves, releasing what is no longer needed.  This season invites us to slow down, reflect, and let go.

We also experience autumn’s energy in the exhale of our breath, the unwinding of the evening, the reflective part of our plans, the luteal phase of the menstrual cycle, and the last quarter moon.  In life, autumn corresponds to midlife, where we refine our priorities, shed outdated patterns, and embrace transformation.

This period can bring feelings of loss and grief as we face changes in our bodies, relationships, and sense of self. Yet, just as trees conserve their energy for winter and prepare for the new growth of spring, midlife offers us an opportunity for deep refinement. It’s a time to distill our experiences, clarify our values, and focus on what truly matters.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, autumn is associated with Metal, symbolising refinement, letting go of excess, and finding strength in simplicity.  Metal cuts through things and teaches us that there is power in release and letting go, creating space for new growth and deeper connections.

By embracing this season of life, we can find beauty in change and wisdom in transformation.

Let nature teach you the power of release and surrender as you prepare for your second spring, ready to face the next chapter with renewed energy, clarity, and purpose.
